Generator Repair and Troubleshooting

Won't start, won't transfer, throwing alerts or running rough? We find the cause and fix it right.

Generators fail for ordinary reasons: a weak battery, old fuel, a clogged filter, a tripped breaker, a failed control board, a sticking transfer switch or a gas supply problem. Many are quick fixes if you know where to look.

Our technicians diagnose first, explain what they found in plain English and give you the options before repairing. We handle common brands and carry the parts that solve most problems, and we will tell you honestly when repair no longer makes sense and replacement is smarter.

Questions

Generator Repair FAQ

My generator will not start. What should I check?

Check that the switch is in Auto, the breaker is on, the battery is charged and gas is available. If it still will not start, call us. Do not run a generator indoors or bypass its safety features.

Why did my generator start but the house stayed dark?

That can be a transfer switch problem or a tripped breaker. We diagnose it on site.

Do you repair other installers' work?

In most cases yes. We inspect and tell you what we find.

Is it worth repairing an old generator?

Sometimes. We give you a clear repair-versus-replace recommendation.
