How Generator Installation Works, Step by Step

From the first phone call to your first test run: what happens, who does it and how long each step usually takes.

1. Free assessment

We visit, look at your panel, meters, yard and goals, and review how you use power. You get honest recommendations.

2. Sizing and options

We calculate your loads and present options with clear pricing so you can choose size, brand, transfer switch and extras.

3. Permits and approvals

We pull the permits and handle HOA submittals, utility coordination and scheduling.

4. Site work and pad

We mark utilities, prepare the base and set the pad. Trenching for gas and conduit follows.

5. Set, connect and wire

The generator is set on the pad and anchored. Gas or propane and electrical connections go in, along with the transfer switch.

6. Inspection, start-up and training

Inspections happen, then we start the generator, run it under load, test the transfer and show you how everything works.

How long does it take?

Permitting depends on your city or county. Once approved, many installs take one to a few days of on-site work.

Questions

Quick answers.

Will I lose power during installation?

Usually only briefly while the transfer switch is tied in. We tell you the plan beforehand.

Do I need to be home?

For the assessment and the final walkthrough, yes. Other days are usually fine.

What if the inspection fails?

We correct the issue and re-inspect. It is part of our service.
